Following £6.5m worth of extensive work over a two-year period, the new facilities at Tetherdown Primary School (Grand Avenue, Muswell Hill) have been opened.

Newly built facilities include a new hall and a new teaching block along with the redevelopment of existing buildings.

The school is growing, and the construction work will allow for larger classrooms and extra pupils.

As part of the official opening ceremony, the two youngest pupils cut a ribbon, and time capsule was also buried in the new woodlands garden by the leader of Haringey Council, Councillor Claire Kober.

Headteacher Evelyn Pittman said: “We are very fortunate to have a new building which not only meets the demands of a 21 Century curriculum, but is also beautiful. This helps create a really stimulating learning environment for our children.”

Councillor Lorna Reith, cabinet member for children and young people, added: “Tetherdown is very popular and this work means that even more pupils can attend the school. We are investing substantial amounts of money in improving facilities at schools across the borough. This is just the latest example of that work.”
