We must keep our local shops open! Some of them seem to be closing down due to high rents .. I know things are tough out there at the moment but we must try not to buy from the big chains! Support your local shops! they may be a bit more expensive but they are well worth it. You don't have to spend a fortune, rather than buy something cheap and cheerful in a big chain store, save up and get something really nice in one of our lovely small shops! I for one, love walking down Muswell Hill High Street and seeing them all, it's better that seeing a bloody Tesco or McDonalds or the usual chains. I say again - keep our local shops going in these tough times !

I try to support the local shops as much as possible, but it just doesnt make sense to pay twice the pice for some items. There shoudl really be a cap on how much the rents can be put up by. Otherwise i dont think you'll find everyone going to the local shops just to keep the character of the highstreet.
